Essential Needs

We provide several services that come standard for all house guests. A Clothing Closet is available to help guests keep good seasonal clothing. We have clothing ranging in all sizes for men and women. Access to free washers and dryers for laundry is also provided to help keep clothing clean.

In addition to daily access to clothing, a full-service bathroom with showers are made available for each guest. Toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, soap, and personal  hygiene products are also provided.

Tents and backpacks are available upon request and distributed to individuals experiencing homelessness with the most critical need.

Faith Enrichment

As disciples of Jesus Christ, we willingly share his word and teachings with all Opportunity House Guests. Every morning, we have Devotion, and prayer is lifted up for individuals and families by request. Bible Study is hosted every Wednesday at 6:00 pm. Additionally, our congregation, The Gathering, meets on-site every Saturday at 7:00pm for individuals who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the word of God.

Our 2Gather2Gether Ministry (2G²), is a unique way to worship and is open to the public every Thursday night from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. During this service, we have vibrant music, fellowship, a 15-minute message, and lastly a meal for everyone in attendance. This ministry was designed to bring the message and teachings of Jesus Christ to anyone in need. The messages are delivered by volunteer pastors across Cabarrus County and the Charlotte Metro Area.

Community Resources

Health and wellbeing are pretty significant concerns for anyone. So we've partnered with strong community leaders and many agencies, to help us to address this concern for all of our Cabarrus neighbors experiencing homelessness. This allows us to ensure that Opportunity House Guests are able to receive free wellness checks, medications, and therapy sessions.

Our network of community partnerships and resources goes beyond the needed attention toward health and wellness. Many other needs such as vocational rehab & employment are being pursued as well. We are also directly engaged in finding and securing housing for all eligible guests. No matter the circumstance. We understand that housing, although important, comes with many responsibilities such as rent and utilities. Our partnerships allow us to continue to provide support with these responsibilities, until sustainability is achieved.

Meet Daron

Daron moved to Cabarrus county with his daughters in 2018. After battling an addiction to drugs and alcohol for over 40 years, he became a resident of Serenity House in Concord. While staying there, he learned of the many opportunities available for people in need at Opportunity House. After receiving support and seeing the needs of many others, Daron decided to stay and volunteer as the Sous-chef at Opportunity House. He's been sober and preparing & providing meals for guests for over two years.

Food

At Opportunity House, we understand that being challenged with, "Where do I sleep tonight?" is often accompanied by, "How do I eat today?" There is great importance in knowing where your next meal will come from. This is why each guest is provided the option of two chef-prepared meals, every day. We serve a hearty breakfast daily at 9:30 am, Monday - Friday because we feel the assurance of a good breakfast makes mornings a little brighter. And because meals are so important, we also provide chef-prepared lunches at 11:30 am daily.

We know finding a meal becomes imperative for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. That's why a Food Pantry was designed to provide Emergency Street Food (non-perishables), snacks, and bottled water to all guests in need. All canned goods in our pantry are donations directly distributed back into the community.
